Blushing Artiste

What: Bring your friends to Garden City Arts and have a glass of wine and light hors d’oeuvres while creating a painting that you can take home at the end of the night. No previous art experience is needed as the instructor will provide easy to follow, step-by-step instructions. Participants will paint on 14-by-18 stretched canvases. Participants must be 21 or older.

When: 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday

Where: Garden City Arts, 318 N. Main St.

Cost: $35 for non-members or $30 for Garden City Arts members. The organization requires payment upon enrollment.

Garden City Farmers Market

What: The first Farmer's Market of the year, featuring a variety of home-grown produce, hand-crafted items and homemade foods for sale.

When: 7 a.m. to noon Saturday

Where: Parking lot of Westlake Hardware, 1210 Fleming St.

 

Harvest Flea Market

What: Harvest Flea Market combines a farmers market and flea market experience, with 300 spaces for vendors offering food, furniture, artwork and more.

When: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. The flea market dates run May through October.

Where: The west end of the Finney County Fairgrounds parking lot.

Admission: $1.

 

Flag disposal ceremony

What: In the spirit of honoring the American flag this week, Harry H. Renick Post 9 will conduct a public ceremony for the disposal of worn and tattered flags that are no longer serviceable. In recent months, wind damaged flags from throughout the community have been deposited in custom-made drop boxes at the American Legion, 405 S. Main St. and at the cemetery office building. The long approved method of disposing of such flags, as stated in the American Legion Manual of Ceremonies, is by controlled burning.

Silver Screen Saturday Night

What: Garden City Recreation Commission presents “The Secret Life of Pets.”

When: Movies start at dusk on Saturday nights.

Where: Stevens Park

Cost: Free and open to the public

 

Stevens Park Concert Series

What: Sponsored by the City of Garden City and the Garden City Recreation Commission, the series presents free concerts each Saturday during the summer. This week, Melissa Dawn will perform.
