Garden City Community College will hold its 98th commencement ceremony at 7 p.m. Friday in Conestoga Arena at the Dennis Perryman Athletic Complex.
Seating will be on a first come/first served basis, though spaces will be available for physically limited guests. Guests are encouraged to arrive early, since the Conestoga Arena’s doors will close before the playing of the National Anthem. Once Conestoga arena is full, guests will be directed to overflow seating in the Pauline Joyce Fine Arts Auditorium, where a video stream of commencement will be broadcasted.
Blake Flanders, president and CEO of the Kansas Board of Regents, is the scheduled guest speaker. Cecil O’Brate, a prominent figure in the state’s oil and gas industries, will be the event’s distinguished guest.
In the event of inclement weather, attendees will move to nearby storm shelters. No noisemakers, including horns or cowbells, will be allowed during the ceremony, and guests are encouraged to remain quiet. A family room will be available for any parents with restless children.
