Garden City High School art students won 48 awards at the annual Fort Hays State University Student Art Show on April 18.

Students entered 139 pieces, including sculptures and ceramics, paintings, drawings and graphic designs. Students toured the university’s art department and helped set up and take down the art show. The next competition will be at the Spring Art Showcase from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday in the GCHS Commons Area, 2720 Buffalo Way Blvd. That evening, there will be a potluck and awards banquet for spring semester student award winners.

Kaci Bunch, Elizabeth Unruh, Emily Arrieta and Esmeralda Sepulveda each won three awards and Miranda Ferrel, Alejandra Reyes and Angelina West each won two awards. The following students won one award: PJ Almaguer, Sa Pi Ma Be, Adriana Lopez, Alex Herrera, Alexis Iman, Brandy Macedo, Crystal Cruz, David Cabral-Banuelos, Emy Martinez, Gilbert Molina, Irrissa Carvajal, Sofia Ortiz, Skyler Wallace, Shelby Espino, Ryan Berry, Paige Gigot, Odalys Espino, Monica Aguirre, Mireya Vaquez, Megan Cady, Lilia Acosta, Jose Cruz, Jennifer Ramirez, Jillian Artus, Jazmeen Vasquez, Jaclyn Radke, Isaac Arrieta, Taryn Tabor, Veronica Aguilar and Yessenia Aguero-Diaz.
