Blushing Artiste

What: Bring your friends to Garden City Arts and have a glass of wine and light hors d’oeuvres while creating a painting that you can take home at the end of the night. No previous art experience is needed as the instructor will provide easy to follow, step-by-step instructions. Participants will paint on 14-by-18 stretched canvases. Participants must be 21 or older.

When: 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday

Where: Garden City Arts, 318 N. Main St.

Cost: $35 or $30 for Garden City Arts members. The organization requires payment upon enrollment. To reserve a spot, contact the gallery to arrange payment at (620) 290-9700.

 

First Friday

What: The monthly First Friday Art Walk will feature various stops where participants can come and go at their own leisure at each art stop between the hours listed. Admission is free for all locations, and everyone is welcome. Patrick Dugan’s Coffee House will feature board games and a popcorn bar as part of its art stop.

When: Art stops, times and their locations are as follows: 5 to 7 p.m. at the Mercer Gallery at GCCC, 801 N. Campus Drive, with featured artists Casey Steuber Smith and Josh Knott; 5 to 7 p.m. at Patrick Dugan’s Coffee Shop, 301 N. Main St., with featured artist Miguel Rodriguez; 6 to 8 p.m. at Garden City Arts, 3018 N. Main St., with feature artist Chuck Bonner.

Outrun Childhood Obesity run

What: The run includes a half-marathon, 10K, 5K and two-mile run/walk, with proceeds to benefit Youth Fit Camp. Fit Camp is designed to help youth understand and appreciate a healthy and active lifestyle and is provided at no cost to the families. Outrun Childhood Obesity provides funding for equipment, participant T-shirts, healthy snacks, instructors for Fit Camp and more.

When: 8 a.m. to 8:45 a.m. Saturday is check-in and registration, with the events to follow.

Where: Charles Peebles Complex, 518 S. Ninth St.

Cost: half-marathon, $60; 10K, $50; 5K and two-mile run, $45.

Spay-ghetti dinner

What: The Finney County Humane Society’s annual Spay-ghetti dinner, a fundraiser for its Spay and Neuter program.

When: 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday

Where: Charles O. Stones Intermediate Center, 401 N. Jennie Barker Road

Tickets: Tickets can be purchased at the Animal Shelter, 124 Fleming St., from noon to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. Adult tickets are $8 per person, and children's tickets are $6.

 

’Cinderella'

What: The Garden City High School Drama Department will have a musical presentation of “Cinderella.”

When: 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday

Where: GCHS auditorium, 2720 Buffalo Way Blvd.

Tickets: $10 for adults and $5 for students at the door. Tickets may be purchased at www.gchsdrama.booktix.com. The box office opens an hour prior to production for purchase of tickets (cash, checks and credit/debit cards will be accepted).
