GARDEN CITY, Kan. — As part of organization-wide restructuring, GateHouse Media announced that Dena (Bennett) Sattler has been named publisher of The Dodge City Daily Globe, The Pratt Tribune, Kiowa County Signal and St. John News.
Sattler will continue as publisher of The Garden City Telegram in her role as a group publisher for GateHouse Media.
“I’m pleased Dena has accepted the role of group publisher for our papers in southwest Kansas,” Stephen Wade, GateHouse Senior Group Publisher, said. “She has demonstrated a passion for community journalism. She recognizes the important role our media companies play in the towns we serve.”
Sattler, 55, has been publisher of The Telegram since April 2004. Prior to being named publisher, she served a brief stint as Telegram advertising-marketing director starting in 2003.
“It’s an honor to be selected to lead the newspaper operations that serve Dodge City, Pratt, Kiowa County and St. John,” Sattler said. “Our teams there produce quality community newspapers and websites, and we’ll look at even more ways to deliver print and digital products and services for our readers and advertisers.”
Sattler also is the legislative director for the Kansas Press Association board of directors, and was the 2013-14 president of the KPA board.
“Dena has a wonderful reputation throughout the state as part of her advocacy of community newspapering,” Wade said.
A native of Burlington, Sattler started her newspaper career in 1985 at The Hawk Eye, and served in various reporting and editing positions before moving to Kansas in 1998 for a management training program.
She’s the daughter of Ruth Ann Bennett of Burlington, and the late Gary Bennett, and is married to Edward Sattler, also a Burlington native.
