In celebration of The American Legion kicking off its 100th year of serving military veterans and its communities, Harry H. Renick Post No. 9 will hold a centennial celebration from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Legion, 405 S. Main St.

The public is invited to view the original Post Charter, old photographs, war memorabilia, period military uniforms and a DVD outlining the history of the largest veterans’ organization in the country.

Recognition of guests and brief remarks will be made at 11 a.m., with Garden City Mayor Roy Cessna scheduled to speak, followed by refreshments.

Celebrations at the local, state and national levels will extend into 2019, with the theme “Veterans Still Serving Americans.”
