Two southwest Kansas construction projects are set to begin in March.

Construction of a replacement bridge on U.S. Highway 50 in Hamilton County is expected to begin Thursday.

The bridge is located 7.5 miles east of the state line in Hamilton County, and traffic will be reduced to one lane controlled by signal lights for the duration of the project. Concrete barriers will be placed to accommodate alternating one-way traffic across the bridge, and a 10-foot restriction will be enforced during the project.

Bridges Inc. has been contracted to complete the $1.2 million project by September, weather permitting.

A project involving the grading and resurfacing to realign Haskell County Road CC north of U.S. Highway 56 also begins Thursday. County Road CC will remain closed for the duration of the project.

APAC Shears of Hutchinson has been contracted to complete the $289,000 project by April, weather permitting.
