Blushing Artiste class
What: Bring your friends to Garden City Arts and have a glass of wine while creating a painting that you can take home at the end of the night. No previous art experience is needed as the instructor will provide easy to follow, step-by-step instructions. Participants will paint on 14-by-18 stretched canvases and enjoy light hors d’oeuvres and wine. Participants must be 21 and older.

Live on Stage performance
What: “Duo Baldo” will perform as part of the Southwest Kansas Live On Stage concert season. The musical comedy duet consists of violinist Brad Repp and pianist/actor Aldo Gentileschi.

FHSU office ribbon cutting
What: A Garden City Area Chamber of Commerce ribbon cutting for Fort Hays State University’s Garden City office, which moved to a new location. It will be a chance to meet FHSU Assistant Vice President of Student Affairs Dennis King and virtual college director Mike Michaelis. There will also be refreshment and giveaways.

First Friday Art Walk
What: Participants can come and go at their leisure at each art stop. Admission is free for all locations, and everyone is welcome.
When/Where: All art stops are on Friday and are at the following times: Mercer Gallery, Garden City Community College, 801 N. Campus Drive, with featured artists Brian K. McCallum and Michael K. Knutson, from 5 to 7 p.m.; Patrick Dugans Coffee House, 301 N. Main St., with work from sixth grade students from St. Dominic Catholic School from 5 to 7 p.m.; Garden City Arts, 318 N Main St., with featured artist Tara Dean from 6 to 8 p.m..

AKC Dog Show
What: The Garden City Kennel Club is sponsoring an AKC Dog Show that will include obedience and rally trials, and numerous vendors. Dogs not entered to show are not allowed in the buildings.

Navajo Taco Dinner
What: The First Christian Church’s 19th annual Navajo Taco Dinner, which serves as a fundraiser for local missions. The menu includes Navajo tacos, homemade pie, coffee and iced tea. There will also be a live auction.
When: 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., with the live auction at 6 p.m., Saturday

Tickets: $7 in advance, which can be purchased at the church, or $8 at the door.
World Wildlife Day
What: Lee Richardson Zoo will celebrate World Wildlife Day, highlighting the big cats. There will be keeper chats, discovery carts and other fun activities.
When: 1:30 to 4 p.m., Saturday. There will be an African lion keeper chat at 2 p.m., a Cat Canyon keeper chat at 3 p.m., and a leopard keeper chat at 3:30 p.m.

What: Garden City High School’s inaugural Empty Bowls fundraiser. Empty Bowls is an event to raise awareness for hunger in the community. GCHS student council is partnering with the Finney County United Way and the Garden City Community College Art Department. With a purchase of a ticket, attendees will be admitted to the dinner with soup, bread, salad and dessert. At the dinner there will be entertainment provided by the GCHS Modern Show Choir and a speaker from the local Food 4 Kids program. After the dinner, attendees will be able to take home a bowl of your choice that has been glazed uniquely by GCHS students. All proceeds will go to the Food 4 Kids program.

What: The Garden City Telegram’s 7th Annual Bridal Show. With a “Royal Affair” theme, the event will feature samples, prizes and numerous vendors offering everything from wedding dresses and interior decorating to wedding planning and catering.
