Chief Master Sgt. Maurice L. Williams will headline Garden City Community College’s Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Celebration on Monday.

Williams will deliver his speech at 10:30 a.m. in the main gym of the Dennis Perryman Athletic Complex. The event is free and open to the public.

Williams is the command senior enlisted leader for the Kansas National Guard. He serves as the principle advisor to the Kansas adjutant general on matters of health, welfare, morale, professional development, good order and discipline and the effective employment of the state’s approximately 6,500 enlisted members of the Kansas Army and Air National Guard.

Prior to his current assignment, Williams was the state command chief master sergeant for the North Carolina Air National Guard. He entered the North Carolina Air National Guard in 1987. He graduated from the Air Transportation Specialist course at Shepard Air Force Base, Texas, in January 1988.

Williams served as the 145th Airlift Wing Command Chief Master Sergeant, codirector of the ANG Chief Master Sergeants’ Executive Course and currently is the chairman of the ANG Enlisted Field Advisory Council serving 91,000 enlisted airmen. He was selected as the Command Senior Enlisted Leader in October 2017.
