A program on Old West firearms will open the “Evening at the Museum” series on Jan. 16.

Lary Cole will give the updated program “Firearms of the Old West.” A retired Kansas Highway Patrol officer, Cole maintains an extensive gun collection and participates with his wife, Cathy, in the sport of cowboy action shooting. He also periodically portrays Garden City co-founder C.J. “Buffalo” Jones.

The Finney County Historical Museum series features a different presentation on the third Tuesday of each month, January through April and September through November. All programs begin at 7 p.m. in the meeting room of the museum, 403 S. Fourth St., followed by a question-and-answer period.

Admission is free, and those who attend should use the museum’s north entrance. The museum staff will provide dessert and beverages. Listeners may bring their own dinner, if desired.
