An 18-year-old Meade man died from injuries he sustained late Friday night in a two-vehicle accident on U.S. Highway 54 just west of Meade.

Luis F. Rivera-Holguin was taken to Meade Hospital, where he later died, after the 2001 Honda Accord he was a passenger in was struck by a 2015 Freightliner semi at about 11:22 p.m. Friday.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, Preston L. Roberts, 17, Garden City, was driving the Accord eastbound on U.S. 54 and was attempting to turn left onto County Road 17, when the semi, driven by Robin C. Wagner, 61, of Two Rivers, Wis., hit the car on the passenger side.

Roberts was taken to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita. Wagner was not injured.

Both drivers, as well as Rivera-Holguin, were wearing seat belts, according to the KHP.
