Pictures with Santa

What: The Garden City High School gifted program will host its annual pictures with Santa event. Photos are $10 each. Proceeds will go toward the USD 457 Community Based Enrichment program.

When: 6 to 8 p.m. Friday and 1 to 6 p.m. Saturday.

Where: Windsor Hotel, 413 N. Main St.

Cost: Photos are $10 each. Digital image files are also available for the same price. The file and photo together are $15.



Second Friday Films

What: This month's Finney County Public Library Second Friday Films movie will be the 1942 classic comedy/romance, "The Man Who Came To Dinner," staring Bette Davis, Ann Sheridan and Monty Wooley. The movie is about critic Sheridan Whiteside who slips on the front steps of a provincial Ohio businessman’s home and breaks his hip, and he and his entourage take over the house indefinitely.

When: 7 p.m. Friday

Where: The Finney County Public Library, 605 E. Walnut St.

Cost: Free, and those who attend are welcome to bring a snack to share.


Tuba Christmas

What: Local tuba and euphonium players performing Christmas music.

When: 3 p.m. Saturday

Where: Near Kep’s Menswear on Grant Avenue in downtown Garden City.


Museum open house

What: The Finney County Historical Society’s Holiday Open House, which includes seasonal snacks, antique car rides and Christmas exhibits. There also be be old-time Christmas carolers, holiday shopping in the museum’s gift shop and visiting vendors, including Premiere Jewelry, Scentsy products, LaLarue clothing, ParTea products and teas, craft goods, re-claimed wood items and others.

When: 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday; Christmas carolers will perform from noon to 2:30 p.m.

Where: Finney County Historical Museum, 403 S. Fourth St.


Garden Valley Retirement Village Open House

What: Garden Valley Retirement Village’s Christmas Open House, which will include entertainment and refreshments.

When: 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday

Where: Garden Valley Retirement Village, 1505 E. Spruce St.


Christmas Festival

What: The Holcomb Recreation Commission’s 17th annual Christmas Festival will include visits with Santa, jump houses, kids prize walk, kids crafts and door prizes.

When: 2 to 4:30 p.m. Saturday

Where: South gym of Holcomb Elementary School, 200 N. Main St.


Sign Choir caroling

What: The Edith Scheuerman Elementary School Tigerrific Sign Choir will be caroling around the Garden City community. The choir will start in Stevens Park (weather permitting) and will present a concert to the parents of the students. The choir will then go caroling at a number of businesses and homes around the community.

When: 5 p.m. Sunday

Where: Stevens Park and a number of businesses and homes around the community.


Christmas parade

What: The brightest parade of the year, presented by The Burtis Motor Co., will include marching bands, school groups, church groups, and many more help to spread seasonal cheer with their brightly decorated holiday floats. This year’s parade theme is “Let it Snow!” Parking along Main Street is prohibited the evening of the parade.

Chili feed

What: The Garden City Fire Department Honor Guard Chili Feed. Visitors can eat chili and cinnamon rolls on a first-come, first-serve basis and check out the new fire apparatus and newly remodeled fire station.

When: Immediately following the Christmas Parade, 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday.

Where: Central Fire Station, 302 N. Ninth St.

Cost: There is a $5 per person suggested donation and children under 3 are free. Proceeds will benefit the GCFD Honor Guard.
