The Kansas Honor Flight will be sending off three Korean War veterans, 16 Vietnam War veterans, six guardians and one leader on a bus to Wichita where they will catch a flight to memorials built in honor of their service in Washington, D.C.

The continuing KHF mission is to transport veterans of World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War to Washington in visitation of the war memorials. The group’s mission is made possible through donations received from the public.

KHF already has funds needed to cover the veterans’ regular expenses for the trip, named Flight 55. Additional funds will be sought locally in support of the 26 southwest Kansans to cover extra expenses incurred through the bus trip and Tuesday’s evening meat and hotel stay in Wichita.

Those who wish to make a contribution to the effort can bring donations to the send-off, or mail a check made out to the Kansas Honor Flight to Trinity Lutheran Church, 1010 Fleming St with “GC BUS” on the memo line.

The public is encouraged to join the send-off at 1010 N. Fleming St. at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, as well as their anticipated return at around 5:30 p.m. on Nov. 3 at the same location.
