The Grant County Home Products Dinner, an annual event in Ulysses that features products grown in southwest Kansas and raises money for scholarships, has received a donation of $2,500 from CoBank on behalf of Catherine Moyer, a member of the cooperative bank’s board of directors.

Moyer, who lives in Ulysses, is CEO and general manager of Pioneer Communications and CEO of High Plains Telecommunications, Inc. She previously has served as co-chair of the dinner, and for three years was a member of the Home Products Dinner Committee, which coordinated the efforts of volunteers and civic groups needed to produce the event.

The contribution is part of CoBank’s corporate citizenship program which, in 2016, provided more than $8.3 million in aid to charitable organizations throughout the country. As part of the program, CoBank allows its employees and board members to direct bank donations to their choice of nonprofit organizations and programs, benefiting local communities where its employees and directors live and work.

About 1,200 people attended this year’s dinner on Sept. 19. Proceeds from the event, which has been held since 1941, support college scholarships for Grant County high school seniors.
