Coffee With a Cop
What: The mission of the Garden City Police Department’s Coffee with a Cop is to break down the barriers between police officers and the citizens they serve. Coffee with a Cop brings police officers and the community members they serve together over coffee to discuss issues and learn more about each other in a neutral location. It will provide an opportunity for real conversations with the GCPD about issues that matter.
When: 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday

Garden City Farmers Market
What: The last Farmer’s Market of the year, which will feature a variety of home-grown produce, hand-crafted items and homemade foods for sale.
When: 7 a.m. to noon Saturday
Where: Parking lot of Westlake Hardware, 1210 Fleming St.
What: The annual Whimmydiddle Arts and Crafts Festival comes to Scott City Park on the last Saturday of September. One of the largest craft shows in western Kansas, this event features more than 200 exhibitors from across the United States who arrive with original art, metal working, pottery and crafts in wood, fabric, jewelry, silk and dried flowers. Whimmydiddle also offers a variety of food concessions.
Whimmydiddle is hosted by Alpha Omega, a chapter of Epsilon Sigma Alpha International chartered in 1949. The chapter gives scholarships annually to graduates of Scott Community High School, reaches out to needy families, and supports any local needs that arise throughout the year.

Mom & Me Painting Class
What: Mom & Me is a painting class designed for adults and their children to enjoy being creative together. The art instructor will lead the class step-by-step through the painting to help each participant create an 8-by-10 canvas masterpiece. All supplies will be provided. Children must be 5 and older to enroll.
When: Morning session from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, and an afternoon session from 1 to 2:30 p.m.
Where: Garden City Arts, 318 N. Main St.

HPPR Living Room Concert Series
What: High Plains Public Radio’s Living Room Concert Series, featuring the band Haven Alexandria and Mark Montgomery. A $15 donation is suggested at the door.
When: Doors open at 7 p.m. Saturday, with the show starting at 7:30 p.m.
Where: High Plains Public Radio, 210 N. Seventh St.
