A Colorado man was killed Monday in an auto accident in rural Stanton County after crashing into a man who failed to yield.
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, Lance Turner, 51, of Colorado, was driving southbound 12 miles northwest of Johnson City in his Chevy Pickup at around 11:53 a.m. when he struck the Kenworth semi truck of Osman Hernandez-Gonzales, 25, Hugoton. Hernandez-Gonzales was headed eastbound on County Road 4 and failed to yield while merging onto County Road W.
Turner died at the scene. Hernandez-Gonzales was transported to Stanton County Hospital with a possible injury. Turner was not wearing a seatbelt. Hernandez-Gonzales was wearing a seatbelt, according to the KHP.
