A 66-year-old Garden City man died Friday in a farming accident after being exposed to anhydrous ammonia.

At about 6 p.m. Friday, Finney County Sheriff’s deputies responded to 13500 S. Ivanhoe Road, where they found Greg Hands on the ground next to a tractor he had been operating. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to a sheriff’s report, Hands had come into contact with anhydrous ammonia because of a leaking hose. He was using the chemical to fertilize his field.
