Finney County Fair

What: The annual Finney County Fair continues today through Sunday at the Finney County Fairgrounds in Garden City. In addition to a variety of 4-H exhibits, there are food vendors; the Pride of Texas Carnival each night; daily performances by ventriloquist David Horner, ‘The Hypnotist’, Amazing Christopher The Balloon Artist and a Flying Debris Comedy Variety Show; Farmer for a Day; and more.

At 8 p.m. Friday, the Jared Daniels Band will perform in the Grandstand Arena and Plaza and at 8 p.m. Saturday, there will be a concert from country singer-song writer- guitarist Phil Vandel.

Garden City Farmers Market

What: Each Saturday through Sept. 24, a variety of home-grown produce, hand-crafted items and homemade foods will be offered for sale.

When: 7 a.m. to noon Saturday

Where: Parking lot of Westlake Hardware, 1210 Fleming St.

Fulton House tours

What: The Finney County Historical Society has opened the historic 1884 William Fulton House, located just southwest of the museum inside Lee Richardson Zoo, for tours. The Folk Victorian home will be open Saturday and Sunday afternoons over the summer.

When: 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Where: Southwest of the museum inside Lee Richardson Zoo.

Water balloon fight

What: The Finney County Democrats will be hosting a community water balloon fight followed by a family potluck dinner.Those attending are encouraged to bring the dish that best describes your family and their heritage. There will be a $5 donation per person if a dish is not provided.

When: Water balloon fight at 3 p.m. and the potluck will be at 5 p.m., Saturday.

Where: Stevens Park

Movie night

What: The Garden City Recreation Commission’s Silver Screen Saturday’s will feature the movie “Lilo & Stitch”, sponsored by the GCRC. Those attending the free event are encouraged to bring a lawnchair and/or blankets and a snack.

When: At dusk (9 to 9:30 p.m.), Saturday

GCRC triathlon

What: The Third Annual Arkansas Trails Triathlon hosted by the Garden City Recreation Commission. This event will be the start to the Triple Threat Series consisting of other triathlons in Cimarron, Dodge City, Liberal and Holcomb. There will be a 400M swim, 12-mile bike ride and a 4-mile trail run. 

When: Registration begins at 6:30 a.m. and the event begins at 7:30 a.m.

Where: The Big Pool, 504 E. Maple St.

Registration: $35 per individual and/or $70 per team.

Concert Series

What: The Garden City Recreation’s free Summer Concert Series, which will feature Melissa Dawn’s country tunes.

When: 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., Sunday
