Kevin Seaman

HUGOTON -- Kevin Joseph Seaman, 60, of Hugoton, died Friday, Feb. 5, 2010, at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston.He was born Sept. 3, 1949, in Wichita, to A.Z. and Margaret Corcoran Seaman. He grew up in Augusta, graduated from Emporia State University in 1971 and earned a master's degree in 1977.
Mr. Seaman loved teaching seventh-grade English, traveling, golfing and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. A devoted Catholic, he was actively involved in the Knights of Columbus, National Education Association, Kansas National Education Association and the Liberal Teachers Association.
On May 22, 1971, he married Judy Sinnett at St. Patrick's Church in Kingman. She survives. Other survivors include a son, Christopher Seaman of Choctaw, Okla.; a daughter, Robyn Medina of Hugoton; and three grandchildren.
Vigil and rosary service will begin at 7 p.m. Wednesday at St. Helen Catholic Church, Hugoton. Funeral Mass will begin at 10 a.m. Thursday at the church. The Revs. Pascal Klein and Brandon Farrar will be co-celebrants. Burial will be at Hugoton Cemetery.
Visitation hours are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday at Paul's Funeral Home in Hugoton or at the family home in Hugoton. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society or the Kevin Seaman Memorial Scholarship, both in care of the funeral home, Box 236, Hugoton, KS 67951.

Judy and family,
Kevin was an inspiration to me. He was a great teacher, coach, role model and Christian. He helped me buy the set of golf clubs I still use. I will always remember him. I will be praying for you today.

sorry judy and family the boys thought a lot of him as a coach and as a teacher you and kevin has put a positive and both my boys David and kyle was both sadden now they are walking down the road they have found cancer on their dad dave is taking a day at a time he is wichita hospital he has been therer for 25 days now he id going to fight the cancer with god carring him the way the boys wish you and your family well and our prayers go out to judy and family thanks kevin for making my boys not to give up and to do their best they will miss seeing him in town and wish the best for you judy and your familymay god be with you and your familly in this time of need kevin was a very pleasant to david and kylethey enjoyed him as a teacher he was a great teacher they will always remember him

A True Role Model
Kevin was my seventh grade teacher and I also had him in eighth grade as well. I always enjoyed his class and he was an inspiration to me. Him and his wife inspired me to become a teacher. He was "like" my favorite "like teacher. If he saw the last sentence I just typed he would have the red pen out and my sentence would be destroyed. He had a great sense of humor and I loved going to his class, even if he made fun of us for saying "like" after every word.

Kevin Seaman
Judy and Family,
We are very sorry for your loss and we are praying for you and for Kevin. We have known Kevin since childhood. I lost track of Kevin after graduation in '67 but 13 years later I was out running and Kevin drove by. When he saw me, he stopped and we talked for quite some time. That is the last time I saw Kevin.

Kevin Seaman
I knew Kevin as a golf coach. I was the coach at Leoti and I always enjoyed playing with him and against him. He is in my thoughts and prayers.
