Barbara Herrera

Barbara Ann Herrera, 49, died Sunday, Feb. 24, 2013, at her home in Garden City.

She was born June 17, 1963, in Goodland, to Eugene and Verlene Clark Taylor.

On Feb. 16, 1980, she married Pete Herrera Jr. in Scott City. They lived in Leoti and Scott City before moving to Garden City in 2010. She worked as a certified nurse's aide.

In addition to her husband, survivors include two sons, Miguel and Dominic Herrera, both of Garden City; three daughters, Angela Johnson and Anita Vestal, both of Scott City, and Teresa Browning of Denver; four brothers, Tom and Tracey Taylor, both of Blue Earth, Minn., Ted Taylor of Winslow, Ariz., and Tim Taylor of Amarillo, Texas; two sisters, Eugina McNamara of Omaha, Neb., and Mary Taylor of McPherson; and eight grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her stepfather, William Cornner; and a son, Pete Herrera III.

A memorial service will begin at 3 p.m. Saturday at Garnand Funeral Home in Garden City. A private family burial will take place at a later date.

There will be no visitation. Condolences may be emailed to garnandfh@sbcglobal.net. Memorials to the Barbara Herrera Memorial Fund may be sent in care of the funeral home, 412 N. Seventh St., Garden City, KS 67846.
