A Garden City man died at his home Saturday morning from what police are suspecting was a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
According to Garden City police Sgt. Michael Reagle, officers went to 1315 Conkling Ave. Apt. B, the home of Arthur Joseph Romero, at 7:07 a.m. Saturday in response to a call that a man had suffered a gunshot wound.
"Officers arrived and found Romero inside with a suspected self-inflicted gunshot wound," Reagle said. "He was found by an acquaintance and pronounced dead at the scene.¬ The investigation is ongoing."
Romero served in the U.S. Army with the 110th Mountain Division in southern Afghanistan. After discharge, he returned to Garden City and was a mill operator at Brookover Ranch Feed Yard.
