David C. Brown, 78, a former Garden City resident, died Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2014.

David C. Brown, 78, a former Garden City resident, died Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2014.

He was born in England and served in the British Army. When he retired from the military, he immigrated to America with his family. He enjoyed working with the Salvation Army and in the school system and was a deacon of First Baptist Church in Leavenworth.

Survivors include his wife, Marlene, whom he married in 1996; two sons, Anthony and wife Janell Brown, and Robert and wife Brooke Brown; and eight grandchildren. His first wife, Hilda, preceded him in death.

A memorial service will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church in Leavenworth.
