Eva Jay

LEOTI — Eva Onita Jay, 105, died Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2013, at Wichita County Long Term Care in Leoti.

She was born Nov. 30, 1907, in Dalhart, Texas, to Roy and Nellie Fearing Hornish. She was a 1927 graduate of Bucklin High School.

On Nov. 30, 1933, she married Fred Jay in Bucklin. Wichita County residents since 1942, they moved into Leoti in 1961. They continued to farm until retiring in 1972, when they began wintering in Arizona. He died Oct. 7, 1992, in Ulysses. She also was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, two sisters and two sons, Wilbur and Max Jay.

Survivors include two daughters, Beverly Zobel of Wasilla, Alaska, and Bessie Young of Wichita; 15 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral will begin at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the United Methodist Church in Leoti. Burial will be at Leoti Cemetery.

Visitation hours are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Price & Sons Funeral Home in Leoti. Condolences may be sent at www.priceandsons.com. Memorials are suggested to the United Methodist Church in Leoti, in care of the funeral home.

Family of Mrs. Fred Jay

I am sorry for loss of your mother. She was a fine lady and will be miissed.
