Mark Alan Johnson died Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2013, at Denver Hospice, after a brief illness.
He was born March 12, 1977, in Goodland, to David and Debra Wicke Johnson. He graduated from Garden City High School in 1995.
After moving to Denver, Mr. Johnson started his career with Premier Ventures as a server at Paramount Cafe. He worked his way to manager at Paramount and then became general manager of Govnrs Park Restaurant and Tavern, another part of the same company.
Survivors include his father and stepmother, David and Lindy Johnson of Garden City; his mother and stepfather, Debra and Tom Bayless of Parsons; his grandmother, Charline Johnson of Goodland; three brothers, Chris Johnson of Goodland, Doug Johnson of Brighton, Colo., and Andy Johnson of Loveland, Colo.; four stepsisters, Tammy Nagel, Crystal Kirk, April Geist and Heather Strand; and two stepbrothers, Daniel and Brent Bayless. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Jack Johnson, Eric Wicke and Rosella Wicke.
A memorial service will begin at 2 p.m. Monday at Bateman Funeral Chapel in Goodland. Burial will follow at Goodland Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to benefit "The Big Nose Fund," to help employees with hardships at Mark's place of employment, and may be sent to the funeral home in Goodland.
