Willa June Powell, 89, died Dec. 5, 2013, at her home in El Dorado. She was born Nov. 15, 1924, to Ernest and Mahalia Eunice Pittman Porter in Garden City.

Willa June Powell, 89, died Dec. 5, 2013, at her home in El Dorado. She was born Nov. 15, 1924, to Ernest and Mahalia Eunice Pittman Porter in Garden City.

She graduated from Pierceville High School and was a resident of Hutchinson.

On Nov. 16, 1948, she married William S. Powell in Junction City. He died Feb. 24, 1979.

Mrs. Powell was a homemaker.

Survivors include three daughters, Cheri Zelenka of Hutchinson, Pat Luman of El Dorado, and Barbara Williams of Towanda; one son, Scott Powell of Hutchinson; two sisters, Norma L. VanDeere of Hutchinson and Wynona Morley of Downey, Calif.; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; a brother, Gerald Porter; and a grandson, Derek Morley.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Elliott Chapel. Burial will follow at 2 p.m. at Fort Riley Post Cemetery, Fort Riley. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday and Tuesday, with family to receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday.
