A Garden City man was killed and two others were injured Tuesday afternoon in a two-vehicle accident that occurred about one mile south of Garden City.

Matthew Scott Anderson, 27, was killed after colliding with another vehicle on U.S. Highway 83 at about 4:40 p.m. Christmas day.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, Anderson was driving a 2005 Honda Civic and was attempting to pass another vehicle on a bridge, realized he didn't have time to pass, and veered back into his lane, over-corrected and lost control on the slick surface of the bridge. He then struck, head-on, a 2007 Mercury Milan driven by Martin Heiman, 34, Hutchinson.

Heiman and his passenger, Robert Heiman, 74, Garden City, were taken to St. Catherine Hospital. Martin Heiman was listed in fair condition at St. Catherine, and Robert Heiman was transferred to an undisclosed facility in Wichita.
