Cimarron man dies in Ford County accident

A Cimarron man died Friday morning in a vehicle/pedestrian accident in Ford County.

Gary L. Ives, 72, died from injuries he sustained in the accident, which occurred at about 11:15 a.m.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, Leo D. Roberston, 71, Cimarron, was driving a 2005 Chevrolet pickup and was backing up from a shop located at 10950 101 Road in Ford County, and when he went to back around a parked truck, the pickup struck Ives.

Ives was taken to Western Plains Hospital, where he died from his injuries. Roberston was uninjured.

The KHP could provide no other information about the incident.
