GCPD seeking escaped juvenile

The Garden City Police Department is attempting to locate a Garden City teen who allegedly escaped from juvenile custody in Kansas City, and made threats to kill local law enforcement officers.

According to a press release, the GCPD is seeking assistance in locating 16-year-old Ruben Fernandez.

Fernandez has a probation violation warrant and reportedly escaped from Juvenile Justice Authority's custody in Kansas City. Fernandez is described as 6-foot tall, about 150 pounds and with brown hair and brown eyes. Police said he could be armed and should be considered dangerous.

Information about the date Fernandez allegedly escaped and the circumstances surrounding the incident were not made available by press time.
