Janice Jean Combs, 63, died Monday, Nov. 25, 2013, at her home in Garden City.

She was born Oct. 15, 1950, in El Segundo, Calif.

On Oct. 13, 1976, she married the Rev. DeWayne H. Combs in Miami, Okla. He died July 28, 2010. She also was preceded in death by a son, SPC Joseph DeWayne Combs; and a brother, Richard M. Blackwood.

A Garden City resident since 2010, Mrs. Combs worked as a certified dietician at St. John's Hospital while living in Joplin, Mo., and at Maude Norton Hospital while living in Baxter Springs.

Survivors include a son, Richard Alan and wife Dawn Combs of Fillmore, Utah; two daughters, Shawn Combs of California, and Barbara George of Garden City; three brothers, Tony Blackwood, Mike Blackwood and Ronnie Blackwood, all of California; 12 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

There will be no services, but friends are invited to the home of Barbara George, 1107 N. Fifth St., from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday for a reception and to celebrate Janice's life.
