HUGOTON — Leona A. Stolz Tate, 96, died Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2013, at her home in Hugoton.
She was born Feb. 20, 1917, in Roberts County, near Sisseton, S.D. She graduated from Sisseton High School in 1933.
On Oct. 14, 1946, she married James R. Tate in Clovis, N.M. He preceded her in death as did her parents and 10 brothers and sisters.
A nurse, Mrs. Tate worked in numerous hospitals in Illinois, Texas and Kansas from 1938 until 1968. From 1968 through 1984, she served as the school nurse for USD 210 Hugoton.
Survivors include four children, Michael Tate of Santa Fe, N.M., Wayne Tate and Theresa Gerrond, both of Hugoton, and Stephen Tate of Corpus Christi, Texas; a stepdaughter, Pat Tate of Clinton, Okla.; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Rosary service will begin at 7 tonight at St. Helen Catholic Church in Hugoton. Funeral will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church.
