Doris Lenore Goodrich Barber, 96, died Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2013, at her home in Garden City.
She was born May 29, 1917, in North Loup, Neb., to Clifford John and Eva May Pierce Goodrich. She graduated from high school in North Loup.
On July 20, 1935, she married Dell Claude Barber in Scottsbluff, Neb. He died May 18, 1999. She also was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Theron Duane Barber; a grandson; a great-grandson; two brothers, Paul and Charles Goodrich; and two sisters, Dorothy Stanghellini and Ersel Jorgensen.
Mrs. Barber had been a Garden City resident since 2012. While living in Colorado Springs, Colo., she worked as a baker in the YWCA cafeteria, as a cook at the Ponderosa Southern Baptist Assembly Grounds and in the Accounting Department for Preferred Risk Insurance Company. She was a member of SpringsLife Seventh Day Baptist Church of Colorado Springs, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution-Kinnikinnik Chapter of Colorado Springs and the Colorado State Historical Society.
Survivors include three daughters, Carley Avon Hazelton of Garden City, Bonnie Bee Watts of Tullahoma, Tenn., and Dixie Rae Boyer of Rush, Colo.; a son, Charles Leon Barber of Colorado Springs; a brother, Ronald Goodrich of Pueblo, Colo.; two sisters, Frances Van Horn of North Loup, and Beverly Stillman of Albuquerque, N.M.; 12 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral will begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home in Colorado Springs. Burial will follow at Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
