Two Garden City men were arrested over the weekend in connection with a fight that took place Saturday night.
David Jordan, 39, was arrested Saturday on allegations of aggravated battery and interference with law enforcement, and Ryan James Burback, 27, was arrested on Sunday on an allegation of interference with law enforcement.
At about 6:26 p.m. Saturday, Garden City police responded to a fight at 1905 Pawnee Road, Apt. A. When officers arrived, they were told the two men who had been fighting had fled on foot.
Officers determined that Jordan and James Garcia, 24, allegedly were involved in a physical altercation that resulted from an argument the two had inside the apartment. Jordan allegedly struck Garcia with a frying pan, knocking him unconscious. When Garcia regained consciousness inside the apartment, the men allegedly began arguing and again went outside and another physical altercation ensued. According to Garden City police Sgt. Michael Reagle, Garcia allegedly had a knife and Jordan suffered a cut to his hand during the altercation.
When officers located Jordan in the area, he attempted to flee but was caught by officers and arrested at the scene. He was transported to St. Catherine Hospital, where he was treated and released for a hand injury and lodged in the Finney County Jail.
Garcia was located at a residence in the 1100 block of Campbell Street, where he was transported to St. Catherine with a head injury. He was life-watched to Via Christi Hospital in Wichita and later released, according to hospital officials.
According to police, Burback was on scene during the fight and allegedly obstructed the officer's investigation.
Reagle said no other arrests have been made at this time and that the incident is still under investigation.
