Casey Jo Bishop
Casey Jo Bishop, 28, of Garden City and formerly of Stewartville, Minn., died Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2013, at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, Minn., where she had been a patient since Aug. 23 following an aggressive illness with tumefactive multiple sclerosis.
She was born Sept. 19, 1985, in Spencer, Iowa, to Joy Ann Bishop. She graduated from high school in Stewartville in 2003.
A Garden City resident since 2007, she had taught second grade at Victor Ornelas Elementary School.
Survivors include her parents, Joy and Brad Cole of Rochester; her grandparents, Wayne and MaryBeth Bishop of Everly, Iowa, Cheryl and Stan Cox of Oregon, Irvin and Pam Johnson of Everly, Sandy and Robert Hoffman of Estherville, Iowa, and Lucien and Carol Cole of Stewartville; and her great-grandmothers, Thora Grover of Spencer, Mildred Webb of Des Moines, Iowa, and Deloris Means of Spring Valley, Minn. She was preceded in death by her great-grandparents.
A Celebration of Life will begin at 11 a.m. Monday at Zion Lutheran Church in Stewartville.
Visitation hours are 3:30 to 7:30 p.m. Sunday at the church and one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.
A memorial service also is being planned in Garden City, with details to be announced.
A private family burial will take place at a later date at Lone Tree Cemetery in rural Everly.
