Uh no Joe Garnands moved out because the city bought the hotel and helped them move into the old ALCO....

ouch!

WOW! I have read the below comments, and first of all I want to say everyone has their rights to what they are passionate about, some of us love the Windsor and the history associated with it. Referring to Joe E here, if you are tired of all the fuss about the Windsor that's your choice. Since you've been an engineer for 18 years, yeah I bet you would like to see the hotel come down.....might give YOU some more work huh? Like I said to each his own but what disturbed me about your post Joe E, was your 'embezzling accusation" directed at GC advocate. There is such a thing as slander and I think YOU are walking a fine line.

ITS A SCAM

I agree with you Joe, how many millions of dollars have been donated to Windsor and it still is in shambles. I think there are alot of people lining there pockets off of these donations.

windsor

The people og GC haeen giving donations for as long as I can remember to restore that hotel. That goes as far back as 1985! I have not seen anything done to it. I remember when Garnand's Furniturewas in the lobby. I wonder why they vacated the building?? HUM, could it be that it is structurly UNSAFE? I think so. Second of all don't accuse me of making up facts. I have been a structural engineer for 18 years and have NEVER got away with fixing an unsafe foundation without having to clear the sight. So you can keep embezzling money and building hopes for all the "preserve the windsor non-profit doations as you want, as for me I have smelled the coffee and won't be given any more of my money to a dream!

CID

Joe, first of all you are making up facts, the building does not have to be torn down to fix the foundation. If you had been in the Windsor recently, you'd know that they already have access to the structural components of the building and can repair everything as is.
Secondly, I would like to know which businesses will be included in the CID (will it be all downtown). Downtown has a hard enough time as it is without it having a seperate and additional sales tax added to it.

why

Why is the Windsor Hotel an issue still? Hasn't anyone beside me realized, that yes, it is an historical building on Main Street but has been condemed as being unsafe to occupy because (and here it comes) the foundation (that is what the building sets on and isachored to) is unstable. Which means the WHOLE building has to be TORN down to restore any part of it. The citizns of GC has been donating money for over 30 years and yet there has not been NOTHING done to the building. How long are we going to wait before the thing comes down in the middle of Main Street and possibily hurt or kill an innocent bystander? Take some of the donated money, tear down the old 5 story sghack and build a building that would be of use to someone as a business or something. You have to admitt it is an eye sore on Main street. Lets tear it down and get a new attraction to the city.
