Phyllis A. Rush
Phyllis A. Rush, 65, Eugene, Mo., died Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2013, in Tuscumbia.
She was born on July 6, 1948, to Dale R. and Jesse M. Lightner in Garden City.
On Nov. 25, 1972, she married Sammy L. Rush in Eldon, Mo.
Survivors include her husband; one daughter, Jennifer Kempker of Eugene, Mo.; two sons, Roy Dale of Eugene, and Jason Rush of Eldon, Mo.; four brothers, Lloyd Lightner, Robert Lightner, Gerald Lightner, and Kyle Lightner, al of Pierceville; three sisters, Vivian Wehkamp of Ingalls, Edith Wyatt of Pierceville, and Irma Reimer of Alma; and six grandchildren, Brenden Kempker, Connor Kempker, Roy Dakota, Chesney Rush, Elizabeth Rush and Austin Rush.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
She was a member of the Eldon Church of the Nazarene, where she served on the church board and was Sunday School superintendent and Children's Bible Quizzing leader. She enjoyed serving God and working church mission trips around the world. She was a 4-H volunteer, a member of the Miller County Farm Bureau, and she and Sam were members of the FFA Alumni.
Mrs. Rush was owner/operator of Country Curl Beauty Shop, co-owner and operator of Sam Rush Farms of Eugene; served as treasurer of Rush Chapel Cemetery and was a bus driver for Miller County R-3 school for 20 years. She loved children and was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and servant of Christ.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Eldon Church of the Nazarene.
Interment will follow at the Rush Chapel Cemetery in Eugene.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Phillips Funeral Home, 5 S. Oak St., Eldon.
Memorials are suggested to the Children's Quizzing Program or Rush Chapel Cemetery.
