James W. Wells, 90, died Friday, Jan. 4, 2013, at Greeley County Long Term Care in Tribune.
He was born March 23, 1922, in Walton, to Elmer Milton and Rosa Maude Yaughger Wells. He graduated from Deerfield High School in 1940. He then served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Mr. Wells had worked as a machinist at a plant in Liberal building airplane parts. A former resident of Garden City and Deerfield, he enjoyed playing pool, cards, dominos, puzzles, traveling (especially to the state fair) and spending time at the senior center.
Survivors include many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Bessie Tackett and Janie Hilton; and a brother, George Wells.
A memorial service will begin at 2 p.m. Friday at Garnand Funeral Home in Garden City. Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery in Garden City.
