Homer Pierce

Homer S. Pierce, 85, of Galva, died Friday, Dec. 28, 2012, at McPherson Memorial Hospital in McPherson.
He was born Dec. 16, 1927, to Homer and Dorothy McCullough Pierce.
A former Garden City resident, Mr. Pierce farmed for the majority of his life, but was also well known as a skilled carpenter.
On Nov. 26, 1944, he married Norma J. Boyd in Cimarron. She survives. Other survivors include four children, Nancy Courtney and husband John of Springfield, Mo., Larry Pierce and wife Shawanna of Hutchinson, Rodney Pierce of Albuquerque, N.M., and Tim Pierce and wife Connie of Crescent City, Calif.; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his stepfather, Alva Hubbard; a brother, Don Pierce; and a grandson, John C. Courtney.
Private family services will be held at a later date. Elliott Mortuary in Hutchinson is in charge of arrangements.
