Esteban G. Salinas, 88, died Monday, Jan. 27, 2014, at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City.

He was born July 14, 1925, in Estacion de las Aldamas N.L., Mexico, to Esteban and Maria Luz Garcia Salinas.

A resident of Garden City since 1949, Mr. Salinas owned and operated a landscaping and lawn care business in Garden City for many years.

On Oct. 15, 1949, he married Josephine Robles in Casa Grande, Ariz. She died March 21, 2003, in Garden City. He also was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Herberto and Emiliano Salinas; and a sister, Antonia Guerra.

Survivors include four sons, Gerard E. Salinas of Carrollton, Texas, Fred J. Salinas of El Campo, Texas, Steven P. Salinas of Allen, Texas, and Robert J. Salinas of Dodge City; three brothers, Ernesto Salinas of Rio Hondo, Texas, Erasto Salinas of Elsa, Texas, and Ursulino Salinas of Pearland, Texas; a sister, Manuela Torres of Parlier, Calif.; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Vigil and rosary service will begin at 7 tonight at St. Dominic Catholic Church in Garden City. Funeral Mass will begin at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the church. Burial will be at Valley View Cemetery in Garden City.

There will be no visitation. Memorials are suggested to St. Dominic Catholic Church, in care of Price & Sons Funeral Home, 620 N. Main St., Garden City, KS 67846.
