ELKHART — Jack W. Thompson, 62, died Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2013, at Morton County Hospital in Elkhart.
He was born March 3, 1950, in Elkhart, to Russell Warren and Vera Helene Walker Thompson. He graduated from Elkhart High School in 1968.
A lifetime resident of Elkhart, Mr. Thompson operated Tri State Auto and was shop foreman for the Morton County Road Department. He had served in the U.S. Army.
In April 1970 he married Linda S. Tregellas in Elkhart. She survives. Other survivors include a son, David A. Thompson of Topeka; a daughter, Julie Hey of Wichita; a sister, Linda Kay Lundy of Burlington, Ky.; and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Larry Ray Thompson.
A memorial service will begin at 10 a.m. Monday at the Morton County Civic Center in Elkhart. Inurnment will follow at Elkhart Cemetery, with graveside military rites conducted.
