Laura Guebara, 62, died Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2014, at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City.

Laura Guebara, 62, died Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2014, at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City.

She was born May 8, 1951, in Garden City, to R.C. "Romaldo" and Rita Garcia Munoz.

A lifelong resident of Garden City, Mrs. Guebara became a certified nurse's aide in the late 1980s and worked for Terrace Gardens and Garden Valley Retirement Village.

On Oct. 28, 1968, she married Andrew Guebara Sr. in Lakin. He survives. Other survivors include her children, Andrew Guebara Jr. of Decatur, Mich., Manuel Guebara, Charles Guebara, Frank Guebara, Rita Ochoa, Louis Guebara, Laura Lee Asebedo, Silvester Guebara and Richie Guebara, all of Garden City, and Bernabe Ruiz of Grand Island, Neb.; her mother, of Kansas City, Kan.; her brothers and sisters, Rocky Munoz of Garden City, Robert Munoz and Roseanne Munoz, both of Kansas City, Kan., Rachel Strait of New Orleans, John Garcia of Guymon, Okla., and Lupe Morgan of Flint, Mich.; 41 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father; a sister, Mary Ann Ortega; a brother, Mike "Big Mike" Munoz; and two grandsons.

Funeral will begin at 11 a.m. Monday at First Southern Baptist Church in Garden City. Burial will be at Valley View Cemetery in Garden City.

Visitation hours are 2 to 8 p.m. Saturday and noon to 8 p.m. Sunday at Garnand Funeral Home, Garden City. Condolences may be emailed to garnandfh@sbcglobal.net. Memorials to the Laura Guebara Memorial Fund may be sent in care of the funeral home, 412 N. Seventh St., Garden City, KS 67846.
