Antonio J. Rojas III

Antonio "Tony" J. Rojas III, 57, passed away Jan. 16, 2014, in Pueblo, Colo. The son of Antonio Avila Rojas Jr. and Stella Rodriquez Rojas, he was born March 19, 1956, in Garden City, Kan.

Tony grew up in Garden City and graduated from high school in 1974. He then attended KU in Lawrence, Kan.

Tony was very talented, he could play any musical instrument. While in high school he played saxophone with the Jazz Band, and later played in the Ortiz Band. He and his father also played together in the Los Aces Band. Tony received numerous Thespian awards and was active with drama in high school and with community theatre, including plays, "Guys & Dolls" and "Death of a Salesman."

From 1978 to 1994, Tony was an electrical wholesale salesman. On Dec. 2, 1983, Tony was united in marriage to Brenda Farnsworth in Breckenridge, Colo. In April 1994, Tony and Brenda moved to Canon City where Tony worked for Blazar Electric. At the time of his death, he was working for Gobin's as a sales associate.

Tony loved watching the Kansas City Chiefs and Kansas Jayhawks. He loved gardening, his flowers and his yard. But, most of all, Tony loved his family, and especially watching his son, Kiefer, play soccer.

Mr. Rojas is survived by his wife, Brenda; son, Kiefer Rojas (close family friend, Reann Padilla); his mother, Stella; and sister, Renee Wigner, all of Canon City. He also is survived by nieces and nephews, Josh Coates (Nicole), Brooke Bilbrey (Dale), Nathaniel, Jeremiah and Chloe Mae Coates, and Zoey and Zanna Bilbrey; great-nieces and great-nephews, Ryan Farnsworth, Hunter Rowland, and Chance, Jersey and Gage Farnsworth; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father; and grandparents, Petra and Antonio Rodriquez, and Severina and Antonio Rojas.

Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2014, at Holt Family Funeral Home at 806 Macon Avenue in Canon City, Colo. Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 23, 2014, at St. Michael Catholic Church at 11th and College in Canon City.

A memorial service will be at 1 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 25, 2014, at the Community Church in Garden City, Kan., with inurnment following at Valley View Cemetery, also in Garden City.

Arrangements are under the care of Holt Family Funeral Home.
