MONTEZUMA — Dale Schmidt, 82, died Monday, Jan. 13, 2014, at Western Plains Medical Complex in Dodge City.

MONTEZUMA — Dale Schmidt, 82, died Monday, Jan. 13, 2014, at Western Plains Medical Complex in Dodge City.

He was born Feb. 9, 1931, on the family farm near Montezuma, to Walter and Della Unruh Schmidt.

On Feb. 17, 1952, he married Nadine Koehn in Montezuma. She survives. Other survivors include a son, Jeff Schmidt of Montezuma; three daughters, Janet Cummings, Janae Esau and Gina Koehn, all of Montezuma; a sister, Regean Schmidt of DeRidder, La.; 10 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Funeral will begin at 2:30 p.m. Friday at Homeland Mennonite Church, Montezuma. Burial will follow at Homeland Mennonite Church Cemetery in Montezuma.

Visitation hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. today at Swaim Funeral Chapel of Montezuma. Thoughts and memories may be shared in the guest book at www.swaimfuneralhome.com. Memorials are suggested to Bethel Home, in care of the funeral home.
