David Owen Cotton, 78, died Monday, Jan. 13, 2014, at his home near Sublette.

David Owen Cotton, 78, died Monday, Jan. 13, 2014, at his home near Sublette.

He was born Jan. 3, 1936, in Liberal, to Albert E. and Gertrude Ann Berghaus Cotton. He graduated in 1954 from Kismet High School.

On July 7, 1956, he married Nancy Joan Light. They lived on a farm south of Sublette, where he farmed and ranched.

In addition to his wife, survivors include two daughters, Robin Waldron of Sublette, and Kelly Langer of Topeka; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters.

Funeral will begin at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Sublette Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Banner Cemetery in rural Seward County.

Visitation hours are 1 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Swaim Funeral Chapel of Sublette. Thoughts and memories may be shared in the guest book at www.swaimfuneralhome.com. Memorials are suggested to Sublette United Methodist Church or St. Catherine's Hospice, both in care of the funeral home.
