He was born April 25, 1921, in Clayton, to Harry R. and Cynthia L. Moore Brooks. He graduated from Edmond High School in Edmond in 1940.

On March 10, 1943, he married Frances Roberta "Bertie" Orr in Dodge City. She died April 25, 1994. He also was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Burton; and a brother, Calvin Brooks.

Mr. Brooks was a farmer and stockman all of his life, farming in Clayton and then north of Densmore before moving to Logan in 1991.

Survivors include his children, Bonnie Leidig of Phillipsburg, Betty Morgan of Garden City, Bobby Gassmann and Bill Brooks, both of Oakley, and Bertha Williams of Winthrop Harbor, Ill.; 12 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Don Brooks of Norton, and Todd Brooks of Edmond.

Funeral will begin at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Enfield Funeral Home, 215 W. Main in Norton. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery in Logan.

Visitation hours are 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Condolences may be sent at Memorials are suggested to Logan Manor and Logan Fire Department.
