Public invited to musical program

A musical program featuring "The Roadrunners" will be presented at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Homestead Assisted Living, 2414 N. Henderson St. The public is encouraged to attend at no charge.

GCPD participates in two-week initiative

The Garden City Police Department will be participating in the statewide seatbelt enforcement program, Seatbelts Are For Everyone, initiative, from Monday through March 22.

During this two-week initiative, officers will be extra vigilant in observing and enforcing seatbelt related laws around schools in Garden City. In 2012, 43 teens lost their lives because of car crashes in Kansas. Seventy-four percent of those killed were not properly restrained.

In addition to enforcing seatbelt laws, officers will place an extra emphasis on enforcing speeding and texting laws while patrolling areas around local schools.

Judicial advisory board meeting set

The 25th Judicial District Community Corrections Advisory Board Meeting will meet at 5:30 p.m. March 28 in the Community Corrections Conference Room, 601 N. Main St., Suite H. Items to be addressed are the Fiscal Year 2014 KDOC Carryover Reimbursement Budget and continued state and agency funding issues.

Defensive Driving class scheduled

The Senior Center of Finney County will host an AARP Defensive Driving course from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday. Reservations are suggested. The cost of the course is $12 for AARP members (bring your AARP membership card to receive your discount). Non-members will pay $14. Bring a valid driver's license.
