The High Plains Country Music Fiddlers, Pickers and Singers will have its monthly program Sunday at the Memorial Building on Main Street in Lakin.

Sign-up will begin at 1 p.m., with the program scheduled to start at 2 p.m. All area musicians are welcome to come and join in and help provide the program for the afternoon.

There will be a short break for snacks. Feel free to bring a snack to share.

American Legion to host community breakfast

The American Legion Riders Community Breakfast is scheduled for 8 to 11 a.m. Sunday at 405 S. Main St.

The menu will feature biscuits, gravy, bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, potatoes, French toast, coffee and orange juice.

Cost for the all-you-can-eat meal is $8. Family members of deployed service men and women eat for free.

'Quilts Matter' to be presented Thursday

"Quilts Matter," an educational program, will be presented by Belinda Oldham, family and consumer sciences agent in Wichita County, at 12:05 p.m. Thursday at the Finney County Extension Office, 501 S. Ninth St.

Oldham will explain how a quilt embodies family, history, community, work, patience, beauty and more.

FCPA to hold annual meeting Wednesday

The Finney County Preservation Alliance will hold its annual meeting at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Downtown Vision office, 413 N. Main St. The group will review the past year and elect officers. Those with questions should call 275-4340.

GCFD to offer free CPR class Monday night

The Garden City Fire Department will be giving their yearly CPR class at the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie, 2603 N. Taylor Ave. (next to Hannah's Restaurant) at 7 p.m. Monday.

There is no charge for this class.

Tickets available for FOLRZ dinner meeting

Friends of Lee Richardson Zoo will have their annual dinner meeting at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 28 at the Finnup Center for Conservation Education at the zoo.

Dinner will be catered by BBQ SmokeHoss, followed by the special guest speaker Matt Peek, a wildlife research biologist for the Kansas Department of Wildlife, Parks Tourism. He will discuss cougars in Kansas.
