Denver Donovan strings lights up in from of Regan and Company in downtown Garden City.
Third Thursday included the tree lighting at Stevens Park to mark the beginning of the holiday season in the community.
Garden City Downtown Vision's Beverly Schmitz Glass said turnout was a bit less than usual, but attributed that in part to an earlier start time and change of day for the lighting event, which usually is held on the Saturday after Thanksgiving.
Glass said next year's tree lighting will likely still be held on a Third Thursday, before Thanksgiving, but might be moved to a later time to allow families more time after work and school to get ready to head downtown. She looks forward to several events in the coming weeks to showcase the growth of Garden City's Main Street and give the community more fun holiday-themed events to participate in.
