Authorities investigating bomb threat at Tyson plant

By The Telegram

Authorities are investigating a bomb threat after someone called the Finney County Law Enforcement Center Monday morning and said that a bomb would go off at noon at the Tyson Fresh Meats plant near Holcomb.

Finney County Undersheriff John Andrews said the call came into the law enforcement center at 4:20 a.m. Monday.

Law enforcement notified Tyson officials of the situation, and Tyson officials shut down operations at the plant while the facility was searched.

Andrews said Tyson plant management and security conducted a search of the building.

"They are much more familiar with their facility than we are," he said.

Andrews said K-9 dogs are not allowed into the facility due to USDA regulations.

After Tyson officials found nothing, the plant was back in operation at 8:25 a.m.

"They conducted the search and didn't find anything. As of this time, the case remains under investigation," Andrews said.
