Sublette man killed in two-vehicle crash

A Sublette man was killed early Sunday morning in a two-vehicle accident in rural Haskell County.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, Nicholas Eugene Chaffin, 24, died after his 1973 Chevy, which was broken down and blacked out in the middle of Road KK about six miles northwest of Sublette, was struck by a 2002 Dodge Ram driven by Andrew Jack York, 23, of Sublette.

York was responding to help Chaffin when the accident occurred at about 2:06 a.m. York was transported to Satanta District Hospital with a possible injury. According to the KHP report, neither Chaffin nor York were wearing seat belts.
