The Garden City Police Department will be conducting a seat belt enforcement check on Friday.

Starting at 9 p.m., the GCPD will be participating in the Nighttime Seatbelt Enforcement Program.

The program is sponsored by the Kansas Department of Transportation and allows GCPD to place additional officers on the streets of Garden City to enforce the Safety Belt Use and Child Passenger Safety Acts. GCPD's participation in the program is funded through a grant provided by KDOT and alternative methods will be used to identify those who are not properly restrained.
